How do I clean the mask?
Since our temporary masks are made of cotton, they can be used several times. However, you should clean them after each use to ensure top hygiene.
To clean your mask, place it in boiling water for five minutes and then leave it to dry on a dry cloth. Then you can iron it smooth with a steam iron if necessary. You can also wash the mask in the washing machine (approx. 60 - 90 degrees).
Do cotton masks help at all?
The answer is yes! Although the mouth and nose coverings do not reach the strict protection class of medical surgical masks, they still contribute to a high level of defence against infectious particles.
Prof. Christian Drosten, virologist at the Charité hospital in Berlin, confirmed the effect of the cotton masks in a podcast with the NDR radio station: "When I sneeze or cough, I spread tiny droplets that are collected by such a mask. There's nothing to discuss about it. [...] Especially people who are already infected with the corona virus can minimize the spread of droplets when they speak and limit the infection of other people.
The cover protects above all the people around you. For example, a person close to you may be infected with the corona virus and show no symptoms. If you do not show any symptoms, you do not think that you could infect anyone. But that is exactly the danger. So if you wear a mouth cover, you can protect others and yourself from being infected.
